'twas DGP company outing at boracay last june 4-6. And I quit smoking. end of story...
OK, I had a not-so-best time in there since the habagat brought turbulent waves that lambasted Boracay's looong beach. Still, we had great fun...
By july 7, I was not feeling that normal going back to work. Aside from the expected hangups and vacation-mode presence, I was sneezing, and the next day I was completely sick , still I came to work. I was coughing, sneezing and "headpaining". So I took my cigarette (yosi)--marlboro reds--and to my surprise, the lungs completely "rebelled" the "foreign gases". I have a cough with phlegm so what do I expect? Well, by-experience, I had resp illnesses before, and I can smoke just fine. But this time, its different. I felt myself a smoking virgin. Like: puff --> ohu, ohu, ohu! What da! the smoke's revolting and unpleasant! and my mind was racing how and why now? I finally give my lungs a break. I didnt bother consult a doc, and the illness went on for a week.

And for the record, I quit smoking by thursday, june 9, 2005.

Or so I think. Yea its more than a month today, but I cannot say I never had a cigarette again. I choose to smoke one cigarette when I drink in a night out, or what popularly known as "inuman". From an average of 5 sticks a day to nothing, that I give credit to the "unforgettable boracay cough", being the catalyst. A blessing in disguise indeed.
