Spaces: MSN or Live
Just remembered that I have a blog here, hmmm, and just noticed that I don't have an entry for June and July. So I'll break the ice this time, 'coz I'm really disappointed with an online service/portal...
I have another blog entry at MSN Spaces. Just checked a while ago and here's my reaction: "Where's my nice and cool interface?" MSN/Live gives me a headache with this Spaces migration to Live. This migration has added to the pain in writing (as in typing the letters of the alphabet) in their interface as the characters are jumbled and the cursor seems to have a mind of its own. And the brand name? Who wants to tell a friend that "oh I recommend you blog using Windows Live Spaces". I'm comfortable with MSN Spaces. As if the term spaces is not ambiguous in its own. So what we have here, full of air or the lack thereof? Windows...Live...Spaces...a sense of nothingness? Will that be the new three pillars of MSN, er, Live blogging mantra?
I personally don't like the Live brand. Its colors and interface are very pale! It's not live, it's unlively! Just take as an example the interface for the WL Messenger. Live is a very common term that even folks at Redmond can hardly define. As they say, Live is a collection of online centralized services, but in truth the bulk of its services offered are rebranded MSN services, which I never bothered to migrate and update. This rebranding is another big mistake folks at Microsoft commit. I don't think most people are that enthusiastic in using their services using the Live brand, especifically with errors that come out after migration. Better if they stayed with the brand and just focused on improving their technology, which is years behind that of Y! and G.
Among MSN/Live services I shall remain loyal to @hotmail.com and MSN messenger, as long as Microsoft allows me to do so...but Live? Hope not long live!

That's the problem on switching portals! Hahaha! Ranting-mode? Forget it! I know you're capable of multi-tasking, grasping different platforms!
